Top Things to Do in Wilmington This Memorial Day Weekend

As the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day weekend is an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with the many attractions in downtown Wilmington, DE. Of course, it’s also a time to honor our military service members, and to reflect on the sacrifices military families have made for the sake of the country’s freedom. Here at Montchanin Builders, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and enduring gratitude to all American military families.

Take part in history by joining the parade

Every year, the Wilmington Memorial Day Committee hosts the Parade and Observance Ceremony on Memorial Day weekend. This year marks the 150th parade in Wilmington, DE. If you would like to march in the parade, you must register with the committee before May 27. If you wish, you may also visit the committee’s Go Fund Me webpage to make a financial contribution.

This year’s parade starts at 6:00 pm sharp on May 30. Bring your family and some lawn chairs to Delaware Ave. for the best view. The Memorial Day parade will be held rain or shine. This year, the committee is honoring Cpt. Brian Faunce, who lost his life serving in Iraq in 2003. His surviving family members are residents of Wilmington, and will be serving as Grand Marshals.
