Upcoming fall events
- Delaware Auto Show (10/4 – 10/6)
Last year, 25,000 people attended the Delaware Auto Show. This year’s event at the Chase Center on the Riverfront is expected to be even bigger and better, with appearances by Captain America, Iron Man, Miss Delaware and the official Show Car of the Nationwide NASCAR series. - Fringe Wilmington Festival (10/30 – 11/3) Fringe Wilmington is a celebration of unconventional and experimental art – not to mention, local food! Nearly 200 local, regional and national artists will be in attendance, participating at multiple arts venues downtown. This year, they’re introducing a new Halloween costume ball at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Another anticipated event is the Extreme Filmmaking Competition, which gives artists just 48 hours to shoot and edit a short film.
- Vendemmia Festival (10/13) This annual Italian festival features samples of great Italian foods, wines and beer, as well as live entertainment, a souvenir glass and vendor displays at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park. Last year, more than 2,500 people came out to celebrate fine wines from every region in Italy and delicacies from local bakeries.
- Chrysanthemum Festival (10/26-11/24) Longwood Gardens blends horticulture with artistry, preserving an ancient Asian art form. More than 20,000 blooming chrysanthemums are grown into torches, spirals, chandeliers, fans, clouds and arches. The largest Thousand Bloom Mum in North America will also be on display this year, showing off its magnificent 1,000+ blooms. Outside, giant pumpkins and gorgeous gourds will be on display.
